After the end of the trainings, an award of certificates/ closing ceremony was organized. The project manager gave a brief overview of the implemented activities and the achieved project results. With the aim of greater promotion of the results and networking of all actors who can in any way contribute to the development of the wood industry, representatives of the Ministry of agriculture and water management (MAWM), local administrations and the NGO sector were invited. The representative of Montenegrin wood cluster (lead partner) and association of wood producers Berane (co-partner) awarded the participants certificates. The ceremony was attended by 35 participants. This meeting was another opportunity for networking and exchange of experiences of all stakeholders, primarily the company and participants who were part of the project.
Within the project “We will learn to make furniture”, which is the Joint EU-MNE Program for employment, education and social protection implemented by the Montenegrin Wood Cluster and the Association of Wood Processors from Berane, a round table was organized on the topic “Analysis of the situation and plans in forestry and wood industry”
At the round table, Mensura Nuhođzić Ferlin-project manager, presented an analysis of the state of the wood industry in Montenegro, with special emphasis on the import and export of wooden furniture, as well as the biggest problems facing the wood industry in our country. The conclusion is that Montenegro imports huge quantities of wooden furniture and exports large quantities of primarily processed wood (boards, beams...) e.g. In 2019, it imported up to 46 million euros in the category of wooden furniture and building joinery, and in the same year it exported about 700,000 euros in that category. In the same year, about 33 million euros were exported in the category of primarily processed products (boards, beams...). The analysis presented that the biggest problems in the final processing of wood are the lack of professional staff/knowledge, and with that, poor technical/technological capacities. All of the aforementioned is the result of the fact that we do not have competitive wood products, both on the domestic and foreign markets, which should have high prices and provide large profits for a large number of employees in the final wood processing plants.
The round table was attended by Mr. Goran Đalović - Director of the Wood Industry Directorate within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. He pointed out that a new forestry and wood industry strategy will be developed in the coming year, and he expects that the direction of the development of the wood industry will be shifted towards greater finalization of products and improvement of wooden production. The common conclusion was that the concession system of distribution of raw materials in Montenegro further stifled final processing and that many wood processors closed their final processing plants, in order to turn to quick earnings in primary processing and export of primary products.
As part of the project “We will learn to make furniture”, training was held for working on CNC machines in the wood industry. The training was conducted by a professor from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo – Department of Mechanical Wood Technology, in cooperation with an assistant. In addition to the plenary presentations, the training was conducted directly in companies on existing machines. The training was carried out in the companies: “Arte Home” and “AR Wood” from Berane as well as “Kriva Breza” from Plav, which also employ trainees for on-the-job training for the profession of carpenter within the aforementioned project.In cooperation with the project team, the consultant also visited the company MIT-Berane.
As part of the project “We will learn to make furniture”, a four-day training for programming and working on CNC machines in the wood industry will be held. The training will take place within the company DOO “AR WOOD” and DOO “ARTE HOME” in Berane and “Kriva Breza” in Plav on October 12,13,14 and 15th. Public presentations of the training program and project objectives were held

As part of the project entitled “We will learn to make furniture” funded by the EU and the Government of Montenegro, a promotional meeting was held in Berane, which brought together several representatives of wood processing companies and potential trainees for carpentry. The meeting was attended by representatives of the companies “Nikola” and “Arte home” from Berane; “Gradišta Komerc” and KEA Kapetanović ”from Bijelo Polje; “Hiron” from Niksic; “Dubak” from Podgorica; “Orion” from Pljevlja; “Kriva Breza” from Plav and “Creative” from Rožaje, as well as the presence of potential trainees in the planned program. At the meeting, the main goals and planned activities of the project were presented, which will be achieved through on-job training in wood industry companies, as well as training in the Training Center.
The main goal of the project is to increase employment through training of unemployed people in order to increase their key competencies, skills, and thus efficiency in the labor market. All project activities are aimed at supporting the development of greater finalization and productivity of the wood industry in Montenegro, and thus the impact on reducing imports of wooden furniture and carpentry. The meeting also discussed the biggest problems and challenges facing the wood industry in Montenegro.

Within the project CFCU / 196 / MNE “We will learn to make furniture” co-financed by the EU and the Government of Montenegro through the European Union Program for Employment, Education and Social Welfare, and for which the amount required for co-financing by project beneficiaries provided The Ministry of Public Administration will hold a promotional meeting.
The meeting will present in detail the conditions and obligations of both the company and the participants for training in employment in wood industry companies and in the Training Center.

Montenegrin wood cluster in cooperation with the Association of Wood Processors Berane, is implementing a project called “We will learn to make furniture”, which is a Joint EU-MNE Program for Employment, Education and Social Protection within the program “Implementation of training and education for deficient occupations” IPA II – Multiannual Action Program for Montenegro on Employment, Education and Social Policy (2015-2017): EuropeAid / 171432 / ID / ACT / ME. The client is the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare of Montenegro – Directorate for Finance and Contracting of EU Assistance Funds.
The project started on December 31, 2022 and will last until December 31, 2022
Overall objective:
Increasing employment through training of unemployed persons in order to increase their key competencies, skills, and thus efficiency in the labor market. The project goal is to meet the needs of the labor market, and thus improve the productivity of the wood industry through greater employment of skilled workers.
The specific objectives are:
- Improving the knowledge and “hard-to-reach” skills for the profession of carpenter and thus creating conditions for their employment.
- Through training and employment / self-employment of skilled labor, the production of wood processing companies will be improved and thus increase their participation in the domestic and foreign markets.
- Greater finalization of raw materials / wood from the local market will improve the green economy
The main planned project activities are:
- Training through employment of 20 participants in the entire territory of Montenegro, in one of the companies of final wood processing.
- 10 unemployed people will have two months of carpentry training at the Training Center.
- Round table on which the problems and possibilities of the wood industry will be discussed
- Additional training on CNC machines for trainees
- Additional entrepreneurship training for traineees
- Promotional film about individual companies and participants during the training

Within the project, CFCU / MNE / 196 “We will learn to make furniture” funded by the European Union, Montenegro Program for Employment, Education and Social Welfare and Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media, for which the Contracting Authority is the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare / Contracting Directorate and financing of EU funds, training through employment is planned where 20. After the expiration of this period the employer is obliged to extend this contract for the same period.
The elimination conditions are that the company must have in its production program the production of final wood products (as furniture and like), with at least 30% solid wood, and be ready to extend the contract with the trainee for the same duration after the training paid during the project.
