The wood industry, which is defined in the Strategy of Manufacturing Industry and the Strategy of Forestry and Wood Processing Development as one of the strategic branches and which together with tourism and agriculture should be the mainstay of Montenegro’s development, despite the raw material preconditions. numerous negative trends, which reached bottom a few years ago. It seems that some of these trends are now – after a temporary restriction or ban on the export of logs (in 2017) – slowly recovering. However, the state of the wood industry is still far from favorable and obviously requires further measures to further restrict or ban the export of logs, as well as to make clear strategic directions with measures to support the wood industry in all aspects of its activities. according to which Montenegro would almost exclusively serve as a country of quality and cheap wood raw materials, for many companies from the region and beyond.
